On Saturday we took a little trip.  It was so nice to get out of town for the day.  We got to check out a great children's museum.

The Aquarium

Katie and I took a little road trip to see some friends last week.  We were planning on going to the zoo, but since rain was threatening we decided to visit the aquarium instead.

We really need to skip town more often!       

Catching up

Lately I have found it hard to find time to get the things done that I need/like to do.  My bathroom is filthy and oh the kitchen floor, Spring planting is already behind, the beds need to be turned and readied, I have half done knitting projects and a list to cast on, laundry to put away and toys to pick up.  On top of all of that we need to get the house ready to put on the market!!  So sits my poor neglected blog.  I've had so much that I have wanted to share lately, but actually getting it done?  Didn't happen.  I have been holding the tiny one.  He is already going through an I only want mama maybe sometimes daddy phase.  Though a little tough at times, there is really nothing in the world that I would rather do.  So I hold the baby and the list grows.  I was thinking of trying to catch up by starting where I left off two weeks ago.  We had such a nice time at the cabin that I would hate to leave it out.  The weather was lovely and it was Charlie's first night away from home!

 
 

 

 

 
 
      

An Afternoon At The Park

It was a lovely weekend here in Ohio.  Warm and breezy.  Just as soon as I hung our laundry on the line it was dry.  The kids have been rediscovering their outside world of toys games and friends.  Today we ventured to one of our favorite parks to take in the woods.  The kids could spend hours playing in the creeks and collecting sticks.  We make it down the trails slowly but surely.  There was a surprise at the end of the trail today.  A bald eagle had built a nest in a tree not too far off!  There were lots of folks there with scopes, so we got a chance to see the mama tending her eggs.  We will surely have to go back in hopes of seeing some baby eagle heads next month!

I haven't been feeling too blogy lately.  Honestly, I've been too busy knitting.  Christmas gifts are beginning to pile up though and it feels really good!  So today I'm posting some photos of the weeks past just so they don't slip by.  We have had lots of fun!!!

Old Friends, New Friends

I am so far behind in this space!!!  So much has been going on lately that I haven't had any time to keep up here.  It looks like I am going to have to do a week in review!

Some very dear friends from Washington came to see us last week!  We haven't seen them in 7 years so it was a real treat.  Our children had never met so it was a fun reunion for us and so neat to watch the new friendships forming between our children.

 

We went up to the lake for a couple of nights.  Its such a great place to relax and just hang out.  We played lots of games and did some reading and ate lots of food.  The kids got to feed the ducks and drive the boat.  It was mighty chilly on the boat ride, but no one seemed to really mind.  We made pillow forts and built fires and made smores.  It was a very nice time.

Skating Party

Tommy had a skate party for school this week.  It was so funny walking into a skate rink again.  It has been so many years!!!  The smell hit me as soon as I walked in.  All skate rinks have the same strange smell.  I can't put my finger on what it is, but it was very nostalgic!  I was almost expecting to hear some 80's hair band songs.  Sadly, I am in no condition to skate, so I had to sit and watch.  It was super cute!!  Both of the kids have ice skated and skate in the street, but the wonderful buttery smoothness of the rink was a brand new experience for them.  It took some getting used to, but they got the hang of it in no time.  Daddy did good too.  He's not much of a skater!

 

It looks like we'll be going roller skating again soon!!!

Farm Market Saturdays

Down on The Farm

This weekend we packed up and headed down to the farm in Kentucky. We always have such a great time down there. It is so quiet and peaceful and there is plenty of room to run wild and free. T and K love jumping on the trampoline.... Swinging......... Riding bikes...... Squishing in the mud..... and picking berries and honeysuckles, riding four wheelers down to the creek, treasure hunting, eating and being loved up and spoiled rotten by the people that love them dearly. Have you ever had homemade biscuit and gravy? My granny has 86 years of experience and it shows. MMMMMMMM. I am so lucky to have had the chance to enjoy the country as a child. That is where so much magic and mystery were explored in my younger years. Some of my fondest memories were made thanks to the rolling hills of Kentucky and the wonderful people that live there. Now I get to watch my children experience the joy and wonder for themselves.  Good Stuff indeed!
