Ha. I just realized that my post didn't post! So here it is...
For his birthday I decided to try my hand at a homemade chocolate cake. It didn't go quite as expected, but tasted delicious! I used this recipe from the smitten kitchen. Oh how I love her recipes! Amazing.
Honey~ We are so lucky to have you in our lives. You are a great partner and an amazing father. Thanks for being awesome. We love you.
Well the shorties that I knit managed to sneak into the wash. Now they might fit Katie's doll, but definitely not my big baby boy. Replacements were in order.
Verigated yarn in worsted weight is hard to find. So instead I used 4 different colored balls, sort of dropping and picking up yarn to give them the verigated look. I am fairly pleased with the results even though you can see holes where I switched yarns. They seem to do the job!
The next project is in the works. It's a surprise though.
I love getting packages in the mail. I really love getting surprise packages in the mail. Today we got just that. It was addressed to Mr. Charlie and what a lovely surprise it was.
This amazing quilt was made by the talented Jennifer Bortz Schneider. The same lady that made the fabulous piece on my wall. She screen printed the bird onto the fabric and hand stitched all of those green stitches. It is amazingly soft and Charlie really like it too!
He recently found his pointer finger. Often times he lulls himself to sleep by sucking on it. Such sweetness!

A pigeon decided to hang around our house today. At first we thought that it was neat. A huge bird was flying around flapping by the windows and sitting on the car. But as the day progressed and he didn't leave, it started to get weird. When he started trying to get in the house and rode on the top of the van down the driveway I started to worry a bit. When he started to follow us from the front yard to the back yard and swooping to get closer, sort of like he was trying to land on us, I started to get freaked out a little. We couldn't decide if he was sick, hurt, or maybe an escaped pet. Was he trying to tell me something like Lassie? Was it some sort of omen? A spirit from a past life? All I know is that it was defiantly strange behavior. The wildlife rescue center was closed so we decided that if in the morning he was still on our wind chime we would take him in. But tonight while the kids were out playing tennis at the park just before dark, he flew away. Just like that our curios strange visitor was gone.

Flies have taken over my kitchen!!!! I have been searching high and low for the source. I can't seem to find it though. I know that they must be hatching around here somewhere. This is borderline freaking me out because I know what that means. It means that MAGOTS are lurking nearby. I will swat or release eight at a time and then walk away. In minutes there will be just as many. It has been a full time job today and it is really bringing me down because it is never ending. It's a good thing that Katie caught a huge spider yesterday. We have been enjoying dropping dead flies in his jar and watching him eat!
C-Dub has been spending all of his awake time practicing his new trick. He is rolling everywhere. And my is he proud!
A new art table was delivered today. We are thrilled to have it. Not only is it cute, but it is big and sturdy. Lately we have been working at the tiny kitchen table, on the driveway or with a broken easel. It has gotten the kids inspired to create today. They were so thrilled that it never made it in the house.
Katie and I took a little road trip to see some friends last week. We were planning on going to the zoo, but since rain was threatening we decided to visit the aquarium instead.
We really need to skip town more often!
We love nana's cottage at the lake. It is quaint and cozy with a huge wrap around screened porch and new this year.... a boat!
There was lots of swimming, game playing, eating, hammock sitting, and relaxing.
