You just never know what kind of day it will be when you wake up in the morning this time of year. When you go to bed it is hot enough to have the fan on and by morning you are under extra quilts and wearing jackets the next day. It makes it hard to dress properly and often times we change clothes several times throughout the day. But in April all of the bulbs pop up and the trees bloom and it is beautiful. For the past couple of weeks our world has been purple and green and it is just lovely. The air smells sweet and the birds are singing. I can't seem to go outside without smiling. Charlie and I were on a walk a couple of days ago. It was warm and windy and snowing petals. When we got home we were covered in petal snow. For a moment it felt like we were in a dream.
There is a blue jay family building a nest in our tree. It has been fun to watch them build their nest made of sticks and paper and Katie's bike streamers. It will be a challenge when they lay their eggs and drive us out of the part of the yard that we gather and play in. But for now, it is fun watching them work.
The kids have been spending every waking moment outside playing. It seems that our world has shifted from in to out. We have been preparing and eating lots of meals outside. Lots of yard work and gardening have been going on. Craft time has officially moved out(thank goodness) and boy do I LOVE how crisp and fresh the sheets are after drying in the sun and wind. They smell amazing! It is so nice to lie down after a long day in sun drenched sheets. There is no feeling quite like it.
